Good large house, comfortable and very well equipped. Baby equipment included cot, high chair and stairgate and there was an abundance of toys in one of the second floor bedrooms. Also a BBQ and seating for 8 with a large table outside in the back garden. There are excellent rail links - one of the family travelled from London in 31/2 hours to Cark & Cartmel station which is only 5 minutes walk from the house (1 minute by car). The location is good also for widely varied activities and interests. With our group ranging in age from 0 years to 66 years, our activities included walking, fell-running, hill-walking, bouldering, scrambling, swimming, visiting Holker Hall, being pampered at Netherwood Hotel Spa, playgrounds, Lakeside steam train ride, paddling, picnics, Ducky Park Farm visit - and more besides. Tesco provided an on-line grocery delivery which was v. useful & I also noticed an Asda van making a delivery to a house opposite. The small village store is just a few steps away - handy for newspapers, topping up on milk & bread etc and the store owners were v. helpful - they will get items in on request if they can. I have to confess that we also called in at the home of Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding (about 7 minutes away by car) and made a purchase but you might be stronger-willed than we were! Our holiday was a family gathering for our Ruby Wedding and the house helped make it a special celebration because we had all the amenities we needed, the location was pleasant and we were able to enjoy relaxing together as well as pursuing various individual and joint activities. I'd warmly recommend Old Bank House to anyone looking for a good place for a holiday for a large group or for a large family gathering. The owners proved most helpful, dealt with quite a few email enquiries from us and gave us useful and friendly advice in the run-up to our holiday. "

We would definitely recommend Old Bank House as it was great to be able to go up into the Lakes, walk on the coast and visit Grange then go by train to Ulverston all in 3 days!
Thank you again, it was a really special weekend for my parents’ golden wedding.
Megan Charlton - April 2010
I have had a great time at old bank house. It was great for hide & seek. Even the adults joined in! It was excellent.

So let me say, for our stay
the house was fab' for the 11 of us
Loads of room to play.
We loved the shore
the play room for kids
the long snowy walks
And the scary midnight talks.
The craggy shoreline
the lovely ascents
the easy, lazy pace
of Cartmel's fine
and gentle grace.
The peace
the clamour
the style the manner
.
Truth be told
Only a few grumbles
but too few
to say other than we were sold!
We'll return
that's no doubt
keep some dates free
Please, don't let the out the house!!

"Just a quick note to say that we had a brilliant time at the weekend - the house and location were great, and obviously the weather helped.
Thanks once again for letting us stay at the house - we hope to visit again"

We had a fabulous Christmas week. Superb house filled with all our needs. Thanks.
Cullinane Family - Crewe - Christmas 2009
"We found the house just great for all our needs - I think you have thought of everything. I think our favourite part was having a real roaring fire in that cold weather. The kitchen was just great for us as my partner and I both love cooking so having such great facilities was just up our street. The dining room was great for all the family to eat around and we also loved being able to connect it through the doors, as we had a big buffet style celebration on the Saturday evening for mum's 80th birthday.
We would have no hesitation whatsoever in booking again and recommending the house to friend"
